ill have u know i binged read all 26 chapters of jd AND redownloaded tumblr all during my finals week bc of ur amazing story alsjjdh. i actually found myself pleasantly surprised when i (stalked) your account and saw that you wrote many other stories that i bookmarked! you have such an exquisite and enthralling way of writing its amazing.

anyways some of my favorite moments were childe (of course) simping over zhongli’s not-smile which was literally the cutest thing ever esp when zhongli tried to hide it with a leaf. it was also a great (yet bittersweet) callback to him being insecure over his fake smile and teeth. persevere, childe. the crush may seem one sided but slowly but surely it’ll pay off 🫡. also everyone being able to tell what zhongli’s feeling bc of his eyes is so sweet and sad as well. just makes me wonder how he felt ruling liyue especially since guizhong was dead and he was pretty much alone for the most part (well, same situation here but still…)

speaking of, i wonder if we ever get to find out what happened to teyvat liyue? the gnosis is under the sea and presumably childe wont set off osial since thatd be uh. certainly a move. or maybe the explosion prematurely loosened his seal? and the sudden disappearance of the well loved consultant zhongli is definitely not going to be unnoticed, either. anyways i saw the happy endings tag so yay!! whether or not he’s back in teyvat or sticks with the gang here is a happy enough ending in my boat.

a couple of asks did wonder how things would play out in the liyue archon quest w/o zhongli there n the tl;dr is that since everyone saw rex lapis get killed the fatui (or anyone else for that matter) wouldn't be put under suspicion of anything, so it would end up being a mystery investigation quest of the qixing + adepti + the fatui all collaborating to figure out what even happened and where tf the gnosis is. childe indeed wouldn't release osial n he'd be the only one mad enough to go dive into the now abyss-corrupted depths of guyun to fish for the gnosis lmao the contract between the tsaritsa n zl had no clauses for this scenario, so since it wasn't fulfilled but technically not broken either, she never tells childe the truth n signora thinks its hilarious that he'll never know n so accidentally takes the secret to the grave and i say mystery investigation quest but i think that would be happening in the background, the main plotline/gameplay would probably be hu tao making the funeral for rex lapis. she would be the only one to make the connection that mr zhongli was morax n thus would spend the entire quest trying to talk her way through the funeral rites being made to mr zhongli's liking without making it obvious that that's what's happening hahah

THE 77TH FUNERAL DIRECTOR: HU TAO ・YEAHHH SOMEONE MATCHES HER ENERGY!!! definitely whenever she sees you while going on a stroll around town, will open her arms for you to run into to her while tryna hug her back, if you would she loves to give piggyback rides to you too. loves you so much, and so does she!! probably would also run around town in both your free time to prank people, and every successful prank would be one kiss, from the one and only you!! she wants you to be there to see it too!!

THE DIVINE PRIESTESS: SANGONOMIYA KOKOMI ・dream come true to her, probably liked you as soon as you both met, probably sun and moon relationship. she's a bit of both, but she likes it better when you do all the talking, and she does the listening. after somewhat a long period of time that kokomi's been gone, obviously you'd miss her, and she'd miss you. but whenever those long missions finally finish, she loves the feeling when as soon ass you see her, you come running with your arms open just to hug her ・loves mostly anything and everything about you / anything you're willing to give, aka your affection. probably loves whenever you become cheesy with her, makes her flustered.

Yanfei looks up from her Book of Laws, and her cyan eyes now study the approaching Director of the Wangshu Funeral Parlor.

“Hello, Hu tao,” Yanfei closes her book, “did you get caught in red tape, finally?”

“Ah…ha…” Hu Tao takes a deep breath, as if she ran through all of Liyue to find Yanfei, “yes…you were right…”

“Oh? About what?”

Hu Tao sighs, wringing her hands together as she looks down at her shoes, “I shouldn’t have held that tie-dyeing event at the old folks’ home…”

“No, it wasn’t because of the event, it was because of the slogan.”

“I know but…’Everybody Dies’ is a great one! It serves as a pun as well as a message!”

“Sure…so, what happened, then?”

“Uncle Tian scolded me…”

Hu Tao suddenly latches onto the sides of Yanfei’s rib cage and the legal advisor shrieks, immediately trying to escape.

“Fun’s over~!” Hu Tao pulls Yanfei onto the ground beside her, clawing at the adeptus’s ribs.

“Gyah-! Hahahaha! The prosecution asks for a recess-!! Hahahahaha!!”

“Hmm…permission granted. I’ll take a break from your ribs.”

Hu Tao suddenly digs into Yanfei’s underarms, technically following through with what she said…it only puts Yanfei in a worsening situation, is all.

Yanfei starts snorting, which is only something she does when she loses her composure. It’s extremely rare, and it only makes Hu Tao want to hear more of it.

“I permit you a recess of…hmm…five minutes?”

“Wait- I’ll die! Hahahahaha!”

synopsis: she felt that there's something she could never have.

She wandered at the streets of liyue as per usual, trying to seek out help to those in need but of course with a fair price. But despite of all that yanfei has not been feeling like herself lately, granny and the traveler have noticed the gloomy state of the sweet girl. Even though she tried to convinced them that she's fine and there was nothing to worry about, it's clear as day that she was not.

On the streets of liyue you'll find couples on a date, two elderly couples on their usual midday walk, family in a restaurant. Love, prosperity and abundance filled the scene. Love, yanfei have thought about this a long time, it's truly a strong emotion, a fluttering feeling, a happy one but devastating as well, yanfei thought that love is a curse to the adeptis, it was something they could never have for their immortal life.

"Love" yanfei mumbled and chuckles a little to herself "what a dream isn't it?"

Yanfei have experienced love, to love and feel loved, romantically. It was a fever dream, a fleeting dream, a sudden rush of happiness, it was something she'll come back to when she has the chance to do so. Until reality hits.

Lisa doesn't particularly mind horror, but she does not enjoy any sight or mention of pumpkins.

So when the movie she's watching has one, she grabs onto S/O with a force they have never felt before.

But other than that, she quite enjoys these movies! Reading horror books in the Favonius library was one thing, but experiencing it in real time like a theatre act was unforgettable!

Especially if it meant she had an excuse to cuddle close to S/O, not that she really needed one to begin with.

(Lisa) "If you feel scared S/O, you could move in a bit closer. I promise to make sure you feel safe.~"

(Lisa) "GUH!- Ugh...D-Don't say a word about that sound, S/O..."

Hu Tao is completely unaffected by the "horror" movie S/O brought in.

But if anything, she's gotten a lot of new inspiration!

(Hu Tao) "Wow, they made the killer look terrifying in that scene! Maybe I should take a few notes from this, thanks for the ideas!"

Sometimes during the film, she likes to jumpscare S/O herself, mostly because she can't help herself.

It wasn't her fault that S/O's reactions were cute!

And of course, she'd be applying her jumpscares outside their date night too!

On the rare occasions Arlecchino has nothing to do, she joins S/O in passing the time.

Horror movies especially intrigued her.

The ones that showed how people would react in certain situations are the films that she enjoys the most.

Her expression remains unchanged the entire duration, to no one's surprise.

(Arlecchino) "An interesting scenario, being forced to survive in a house full of demons, and trusting one another."

The only thing she does is make sure none of the children watch it with her, to their disappointment.

She doesn't want them to have nightmares, and forces them to bed as to not get scared.

...Her S/O? Well, they were an adult, surely they can handle that themselves. There's no need for her to coddle them.

A horror movie? Child's play, she has seen much worse in plays!

And also the horror movie that is her life.

Furina smirks as she crosses her arms.

She in fact, did get scared from a fictional story.

I don't think Diluc would necessarily spoil you but he wouldn't exactly NOT spoil you. We know he's rather rich and he can likely get you whatever you so wish however I believe Diluc's one of the types to not want to spoil people too much especially as many likely try to be his friend due to his income.

You'll get multiple gifts from and likely one or two of them are rather expensive things you once expressed an interest in liking, there's also smaller gifts like perhaps a plush of your favourite animal but there's also some homemade gifts he made. A good mix.

I feel like Diluc is someone who usually enjoys spending Christmas alone or just with a few close friends, when or if friends are over he enjoys sitting by the fireplace and chatting. He's not the type to do any of those Christmas games but there is a chance he could get roped into it one day.

Definitely doesn't drink, we all already know he doesn't like the taste of alcohol, besides. Even though he technically has the day off, I feel he'd rather not have a hangover the next day, whether or not he's off.

Speaking of a day off, once the maids/butlers finish their work. Which for that day would be small, just cleaner around the house and maybe cooking a Christmas dinner if friends are over, they can all go home. I also feel Diluc lets them have the next day off as well but for the whole day. He can deal with the housework.

At the end of the day, I think spending Christmas with Diluc means a very peaceful and quiet day. He wants to relax and he'll let himself, you and his workers relax just so they can spend time with those they hold close to their hearts.

Zhongli knows about the things people do on Christmas and he's more than happy to join in if it makes you happy. He goes out shopping for things for his friends (this time he DOES remember his wallet) and ensures it's the best quality while also ensuring it's something that would make you and others happy.

Hu Tao decides to hold a party, inviting you and Zhongli both! There's party games set up, a dinner made and also she insists on not handing out presents yet as she decides to do it near the end of the party, allowing everyone to give out their gifts and they can either open it or open it later at home.

If you decide to open it once you've been given the gift, Zhongli watches your reaction to see if he made a right choice in gifts and sure enough, with the way your face lit up tells him all he needed to know.

Once gifts have been given out, he excuses himself and leaves the party, bidding everyone a farewell. Why? Simple, he must spend some time with the Adepti as well right?

Ayato prefers spending Christmas with mainly family, of course he's not opposed if Thoma or Ayaka wishes to bring along a friend to join their celebration however he's not one to do the same himself.

This doesn't mean he won't give you a gift however, he still does. Ensuring it's wrapped with care before giving it to you. He knows what you like and likely gets exactly what you want.

It's not likely to really hang out with Ayato on Christmas unless Ayaka or Thoma invites you to celebrate with them. Christmas with the Kamisatos is a mix between peaceful and chaotic. We have the hotpot game where Ayato feels a bit more devious in what he adds but there's also the gift giving where people share smiles and thanks over what they got.

Sadly though, I feel unlike some characters, he's one of the few who still has some work to do despite the day. He gets them done quickly so he can hang out with family but the day after it's straight back to work.

But just seeing the smiles of his friends and family make it worth it for him, even if he can't celebrate the whole day and might only get a few hours and he needs to work the next day as well. Just seeing people he cares about being happy is enough for him.

For Alhaitham, I feel like he isn't one to really celebrate Christmas, not like his roommate anyways. Like he'll buy presents for friends but he won't really participate any further than that.

You can try to drag him to a Christmas Party, to have a Christmas dinner or whatever Christmassy thing you do but he'll refuse each time. While he does understand why people enjoy it and it's not that he doesn't enjoy it. He himself just prefers spending time alone.

You'll likely find him using the fact that many people are at home with family and friends to maybe take a peaceful and quiet walk, use the library to read, maybe he might go to the museum if it's opened or he might just be in his room for the rest of the day.

Overall, it's not that he doesn't like Christmas or anything like that, he just prefers to use the day to get time for himself without annoying scholars, he'll still make sure to get gifts for everyone and give them to them however aside from that, don't expect him to respond if you try to call him, he probably has his noise-cancelling headphones on.

I see Lyney performing a magic show, free of charge. He wants people to see the magic of Christmas. Well...as Christmassy as he can get it, it's your regular magician tricks with maybe some Christmas themed props.

He does this every year, and he'll also pick random kids from the audience and give them a gift. Kinda like a lucky draw! He adores the way the kids face lights up in delight as they quickly rush beside him and he asks them to choose a gift.

After the shows over, he disappears home so he can celebrate with you and his siblings, still doing magic to do so however haha. He'll make your gifts appear in your hands. He ensures you all have fun on this day as he believes that's what Christmas is about. To have fun with family. He even gets gifts for everyone in the orphanage!

However, you may find him on the floor wrapped in wrapping paper the morning of Christmas as he tries to struggle his way out.

"I was trying to wrap a teddy bear"

Is all he could say as he worms his way towards you so you can free him.

I think most of us can agree Childe is big on this day. Especially when it comes to family. He doesn't care how much something is, if his siblings want it he'll get it. No questions asked...although perhaps you could convince him not to get a "Mega Mr Cyclops" for Tuecer, I highly doubt Zakhar would want to see a certain redhead in his office when he's meant to have a day off.

He also spoils you as well actually! Let's say you went window shopping with him one day, not buying anything but just pointing out various things you seem to like. As long as you end up never getting them, expect each item to be in your Christmas present.

On one hand I feel he would have a day off, on the other, there's still that chance that Lady Tsaritsa needs him to do something, and he hates when that happens cause all he wants to do is be with his family and friends but his loyalties to her must come first.

He tries his best to get it done fast so he can come home, let's hope you have spare clothes for him encase and red stains catch on his clothes yeah?

Overall, he is probably the most enthusiastic about the day out of everyone listed.

it had been a while since you had migrated from your sealed-off home in the middle of nowhere liyue into the busy liyue harbor at the insistence of zhongli (and shockingly enough xiao). according to both of them, you had spent the last few hundred years stuck in immorality and all alone; you had spent enough time in solitude. now, with your life being revealed to those who mattered to you, it was time to move forward again.

in truth, even with your experience dealing with all sorts of folks from your lifetimes, the move to the harbor was awkward. people would see you practically sticking to zhongli simply because you knew no one else and they would start conversations based soley on the fact that you must be someone he knew. he was much more popular and well-known than you suspected since he was just a mortal man now. it seems his knowledge and need to make things known when they could possibly be told in injustice worked in building his reputation.

the addition of hu tao in your small, new social circle was a burst of energy you had forgotten people had as well. her go-go-go attitude about work and seeming lack of fatigue was almost awe-inspiring. the fact that she was the boss of your archon-turned-mortal lover was just as entertaining; witnessing him try to reign her in as respectfully as possible and sigh heavily when she would flit out of his sight was a pleasantry. it made him feel more well-rounded as a person and not just the age-old archon you had known.

now, it had been about a month.

zhongli had invited you to stay with him since he was absolutely unwilling to let you get too far from him after believing you were dead for so long. he was a collectively calm man with control of his emotions, but any sane person would feel the smallest bit of clinginess- for lack of better terms- in this scenario. perhaps it was his innate instincts kicking in that he usually suppressed; the ones that made him bare his fangs or hiss at intruders on his territory... who could say?

as you sat at the open window of his home up on the second floor, you enjoyed the bustle of noises floating from the harbor and the breeze that greeted you at this height. your night clothes were wrinkled from your night of rest and your hair had only been haphazardly combed back with your fingers. the warm cup of tea in your hand had been brewed just before you took your seat at the window.

even after a month of this, you still couldn't understand how you forgot how peaceful mornings could be when they weren't steeped in lonesome melancholy.

small pads of footsteps invaded your senses and overtook the sound of the harbor before the door to the small tea room opened with a slight creak. one thing you always had zhongli beat at is being able to wake up before him.

his bare feet carry him further into the room before coming to your side and leaning down to kiss the top of your bedhead. the robe he wears slides down his exposed shoulder when he leans and his loose hair brushes against your cheek. his hand cups behind your back and slightly rubs against your shoulders in a warm, welcoming motion before his amber eyes glow in the morning sun mirthfully.

"good morning, my dear." his hand keeps rubbing your back and moves to press into your spine that is still sore from the stillness of sleep. "may i be so bold as to ask to join you?" he always asks the same question as if you'll ever tell him no. you have no doubt he does in simple jest now.

"you may, since i'm feeling generous." with a small chuckle, zhongli shifts his body to sit across from you at the tea table before pouring himself some of your brewed tea.

sitting in the orange morning sun, the veins of gold that run across his body look like rivers flowing on calm land.

"shouldn't you cover up? someone down there could see you," you tease as you take a sip of your cooling tea.

"there's no need," he sips his own steaming cup fresh from the pot. "we're far too high for anyone to take notice of my appearance properly." even if someone did notice his less-than-human traits running over his exposed skin, he'd just blame it on the sun- just a trick of the light.

the mornings were often like this. soft and quiet and slow before he knows he's needed at the funeral parlor and you would soon be needed at your own job. that was one other thing you were insistent on when moving to the harbor with him.

you didn't want to mooch off his paycheck and his home and his space forever, so you were quick to find a job anywhere you could. zhongli wishes you wouldn't have since he strongly thought that you deserved to live lazily and carefree- if not forever then at least for a while longer. still, when you didn't budge on your decision, he was quick to relent as he always was.

you had decided to go with a smaller-scale job and work alongside ying'er and her perfumes at the scent of spring. she was quite the character and when you told zhongli about your prospects of working with her- his slight flash of concern didn't go unnoted. 'she is simply a very... open person,' he had told you. the flirtatious way she often spoke to others was clearly what he was referring to when you got to know her more.

still, you had your pick and decided to stay. odd though she can act, she was a good person and offered you decent pay at easy hours. compared to running around preforming errands along with rites of partings like zhongli and hu tao- this was a pretty safe gig.

you stood outside the perfume shop with zhongli as he was about to start on his way to the funeral parlor. he always insisted on walking you to and from work- the one evening you made it home before he could pick you up was the first time you had ever seen his eyebrows droop in what you would dare to call a pout!

that miniscule pout now dared to tug on his expression this morning too. lantern rite was tonight and when the sun would begin to drop, he would be preoccupied with other tasks and mingling with friends from past and present- he was afraid the social traffic would prevent him from offering you his arm. you had no problem with the circumstances since the shop would be closing early today for lantern rite in the first place. you just told him you'd meet him at the docks before it starts.

it was mostly true; you hadn't found him in time when the lanterns were to be lifted and you instead stood among the crowd of strangers while gaming had performed his wushou dance among the calm waves of the harbor. still, you felt full watching all the festivities firsthand like this- the fulfillment filled you with such warmth. your vantage point atop the long stairs that leads down to the crowded docks gives you a sense of being on top of the world. it felt silly, but so very comforting.

"oh, y/n!" you turn your head to see the traveler and paimon coming your way, paimon waving her arm enthusiastically in the air. she then proceeds to float around you in awe of your attire. "wow! you look so pretty!" her cheeks tint as you feel yourself become the smallest bit bashful.

"well, it's my first lantern rite. i thought i should dress up a little for the occasion." wearing a styled hanfu of soft colors that easily complemented zhongli's color scheme, you picked up the skirt before letting it flutter back around your legs.

this was another reason you were okay with zhongli not being able to escort you. while it would've been wonderful to be with him the whole event, the idea of this small surprise of you all gussied up made your cheeks warm.

"you smell good too," paimon's comment made you burst out a small laugh since it was so unprompted. you clear your throat as she cups he chin with her finger. "why does your perfume smell so familiar?"

"it was a gift from ying'er. she told me it would 'suit my tastes', i suppose."

"ying'er," paimon's brows crunch in intense thought before the traveler placed their arms on their hips.

"remember the rite of parting for rex lapis, paimon?" paimon snaps her fingers and points at the blond.

"that's it!" she turned back to you to explain. "during the rite of parting, we offered perfumes up to rex lapis! this is the one that seemed to really resonate with the statue of seven. what was it- uh, something, something dusk... mist..? agh! paimon can't remember clearly." you chuckle at her.

"it's called golden house maiden. according to ying'er it's favored by the more mature crowd. the gentle scent makes it easier on me to wear since anything too strong really isn't my thing." looking at your wrist where you sprayed a small portion of it on your skin before applying it to your throat and neck, you feel yourself get hot all over again knowing it was favored by rex lapis. "anyway, are you two going to enjoy the event?"

"mmhnn!" paimon hums. "we just got back from visiting xiao, so now paimon's going to eat all sorts of delicious food!"

you shoot the traveler a sly grin before they were clearing their throat and looking away from you. oh, young love- how precious.

"so, where's zhongli anyway? normally he's hovering around you like a fly when you're not working!"

"he isn't that bad," you chuckle. "i'm meeting him in a bit. i was actually on my way down. if you'd like we can walk together?"

"sure!" paimon agrees while the traveler nods and soon you're all walking down the stairs to the warmly lit lanterns and the decorative float of one of the past yakshas. with you walking in front of the two travel companions, they both opened their mouths in silently 'ooo's at the sight of your hair all done up with a single hair stick- one they're familiar with. "they're so cute," paimon whispers to the traveler who easily agrees.

before too long, you're greeted by the bustling partygoers of lantern rite and was even offered a small lantern charm that you happily except from a passing sales pitcher.

"oh!" paimon pipes up before pointing through the crowd. "there he is!" she spots zhongli with hu tao nearby a table of small tea cups. he mentioned that he often watched the fireworks with her during events such as these. "zhongli!" paimon called, parting the crowd while you and the blond followed behind.

zhongli was glad he wasn't holding a teacup or standing up when you finally graced him with your presence. if he had, he knows he would've dropped the cup or lost his footing.

he stared at you in a daze when you offered a kind greeting to hu tao who was fussing over how pretty you looked just as much as paimon did. as if your looks weren't enough, the scent of your perfume wafted into his sense and if he were any less of a man he would've grabbed your wrist and dragged you off by now. the god of old was thankful the night was dark and light dim so no one could notice his blown wide pupils that took you in. when you finally look at him, he swallows hard.

"sorry for keeping you waiting so long. i know i said i'd be here before the event started, but i got a bit time blind... ironically enough." zhongli stood from his spot at the round table and found his voice.

"it was no trouble at all." his eyes catch sight of your hair and gently brings his hand up to cup around the dangling jewels hanging off the wings of your dragonfly hair stick. "it was clearly very much worth the wait."

"aiya, you two love birds sure are something else," hu tao sighs dreamily at you. she was no hopeless romantic or anything, but seeing zhongli so smitten was something was quite the sight to behold. "go! enjoy the festivities and relax!" her soft voice was encouraging as she pushes zhongli's back to get him moving.

zhongli offers you his arm, which you take before showing him your small little lantern charm you received while you both walked off together. the party of three you were leaving behind of hu tao, paimon and the traveler all smiled at your backs.

"they make a good couple," traveler says. the other two agree with no argument.

and although it's a little late, zhongli takes you out to the statue of seven just outside of the harbor and releases a lantern with you in solitude. while you watched it float into the air far behind its other lantern brethren, zhongli was latched onto your back, hands on your hips and his face in your neck.

this perfume really was favored by rex lapis after all.

"I've liked you for quite some time now" fell from their lips, somewhat boldly even, the sudden confession made your heart skip a beat. A kiss placed on their lips was all the answer that they needed.

... Then they all begged you to take off the mask. They all begged you to leave. They begged you to run away from the vigilant yaksha. They were begging you to save them. From him.

But Xiao never lets you fall prey from such lies. He "knows those voices best"; they are "no different from the bad karma" he has to face daily.

So don't take off that mask.

⚰️ Let's make one thing clear before we get into the scenario proper, after kidnaping you she made everyone think you're dead,becouse of that there probably wouldn't be anyone to look for you, so the escape is all up to you.

⚰️ After you escape, she WILL look for you anywhere she possibly can, desperate to get you back.

⚰️ She'l search all the Liyue, only to not he able to find you anywhere...

⚰️ A whole year Has passed ever since your escape. Hu Tao tried to keep up her cheerfull persona in public, but it was clear to everyone that something was off.

⚰️ Then one Day, while out on some business trip related to the Funeral Parlor in a diffrent region, she sees someone familiar...

⚰️ At first she can't believe her eyes, but the more she stares at you the more she is sure it is you...

⚰️ She will stalk follow you around, making sure you can't notice her. She hasn't saw you in sooo long~ It's only natural she'l want to check on how you are doing without her.

⚰️ Once you reach a more isolated environment she reveals herself to you, a big smile on her face once she sees your horrified expression.

⚰️ She lost you once before, she will make sure the same thing will not happen ever again~

Warning 2: researching Naiads was hard asf since I kept getting different sources to different questions I had so apologies ahead if I accidentally wrote something in an inacurate way.

Alhaitham- stone golem

Have you ever seen a man as gorgeous as a statue? Well... he was a statue at first. You remember how often you used to sit nearby it whenever you had an idle moment. It was in a secluded place, sometimes you even wonder if anyone else knew about it.

Sometimes, when you were feeling a bit alone- you talked to him like he was your friend. You couldn't take out some frustrations in your everyday life, so why not just talk to a statue that has no way of responding or judging you?

One day however you noticed something. The statue had a hole on his chest (at least that's the time you actually paid attention to the hole), like something was supposed to be there- but it was nowhere to be found.

You started to look around it. You had no idea what you were even looking for, but you just got a bit too curious.

Luck had it that not long search later you found a gem behind one of the bushes. Without hesitation you put it in the hole which caused an interesting reaction...

The statue moved. It's voice was very pleasant unlike what he said "And what did you wake me for exactly?" Judging by his tone, he wasn't exactly happy about being awakened.

Of course you had no idea that he would wake up so you told him that. To which he called you ignorant for not recognizing something as "basic" as a cursed gemstone.

You decided not to argue with him. I mean it'd be like talking to a stone wall. Which you sort of were doing before...

It was getting awkward at this point, especially since he was indifferent to that. So he just left...

He knew exactly where he was going so he must've been "asleep" for not a long time. He didn't pay you much attention. Actually he acted as though you weren't there.

So you decided to just leave him alone. It was as simple as that. But a part of you continued to be curious about him.

Especially since it was hard not to pay attention to him. You saw him around quite often. Whenever he was reading something, he was still. Looking once again just like a statue.

A very handsome one. If only he wasn't such a stone hearted asshole. But it's not like you can expect much of a guy who literally has a heart made out of stone if he has one to begin with.

One day, you were feeling a little frustrated. So you went back to your usual spot. It was weird coming there knowing that the statue isn't there anymore but when you got there you were surprised to see him.

He didn't feel the need to explain himself. It was clear that he just wanted some peace and quiet. And that's exactly what this place was giving. With a little hesitation, you sat down next to him and just allowed yourself to relax.

You enjoyed each other's company in silence, until he asked what made you come here this time. To which you looked at him surprised.

It didn't take long to connect the dots, although earlier he was "asleep" he still was concious and aware of the things around him.

You didn't know what to do... But in the end you told him a short summary of your recent worries.

And as earlier the point of talking to a statue was the lack of judgement, this time you felt it more than ever.

Then again... Having an active conversation helped you more. And to be honest... You had fun. He was blunt, and while his words did sometimes hurt his lack of social understanding was... Cute in a way.

Ever since that moment, you found yourself getting closer to him. He didn't talk to people much, but he started to look for excuses to talk to you.

When he caught feelings and recognized them he also didn't see any point in pretending. He was blunt even in his confession, but you accepted his feelings.

Honestly you were freaking out yourself a bit before that when you started to fall for him. I mean what were the chances of him returning your feelings when he wasn't exactly the type to be interested in romance.

And yet here you were. With a man who's heart was a stone- and yet it was beating for you.

Ayato- Kitsune

Recently, you found yourself being the victim of some harmless pranks... although you could never tell who or what was pranking you or were you just unlucky.

Each time you went through that path between Konda village to Inazuma city some minor inconvenience happened to you. And nobody but a few foxes were there to witness it.

You started slowly suspecting that you were being harassed by Youkai, and you were pretty sure of that actually- there is no buts here.

And since it was always in company of foxes there was no mistaking it that at least one of them was a fully sentient Kitsune. It wasn't that hard to guess which one was it though.

So next time you were pranked by it's illusions you decided to check your theory. You walked up to the white fox, it had an incredible fluffy tail- or perhaps was it because it had more than one?

You asked what their deal was and they acted dumb for a moment, making you question your sanity. Eventually it got bored of pretending and changed forms. With how childish these pranks were, you were expecting some kid. Instead you saw quite a handsome guy...

You didn't recognize him from anywhere. But his clothes were rather fancy, so he could be some sort of big shot you had no way of recognizing. But how would he have so much free time to prank you like this?

"Ah and so you caught me, I was wondering how long it'd take" his voice was mischievous but at the same time oddly appealing.

You only wondered what did you do to gather such attention around yourself. But there wasn't any real reason for it actually.

It was just a coincidence, and your reactions just happened to entertain him enough to keep his interest.

He tried to leave once his cover was off, and you managed to stop him to ask for his name... And you were surprised to learn that he was actually someone important.

Ayato was never much of a public figure, even though his name is known by many nearly nobody had seen him.

There were a lot of rumors about him as it was... him being a Kitsune actually explained a few of them. But since it wasn't a common knowledge among the public, he sure was great at masking his Kitsune features.

In the end it didn't matter much. It wasn't very likely for the two of you to continue crossing paths.

He won't catch you off guard anymore, and he "interacted" with you for the sake of entertainment... Yet a part of you had fun as well.

He added something to those walks of yours and while sometimes you prayed to not run into him... At other times you were wondering what he'd do next.

You didn't see him on that path for about a week, so you were pretty sure he won't show up here ever again... But then you fell victim to his pranks once more.

Turns out that he was actually busy for once but the moment he had the time he went back hoping to see you again. Actually, his schedule is always tight. It's just that he found himself always being able to find an excuse to go to that spot.

He couldn't quite explain it, but he found himself falling for you at a first sight. Your first meeting was a coincidence, but everything after it wasn't.

And he was right to trust you. Because even though you knew what he was, you didn't pass that information onto anyone. Even if you didn't do it because you thought you wouldn't be believed... He appreciated such "loyalty".

Eventually he stopped entertaining himself with your reactions, instead whenever your paths crossed he indulged in a nice conversation with you.

He wasn't surprised to find out that he was right in having feelings for you... But he only silently adored you.

There was a lot of barriers that should be keeping his heart away from you. From social status to your mortality. And yet he allows himself to have those joyous moments with you.

Nilou- Water Nymph (Naiad)

Getting lost in the desert wasn't something on your to do list and yet here you were. Dehydrated and desperate. Your Sumpter beast ran away as it got scared of something.

You were trying to follow it but it quickly lost you and so you could only rely on the traces it left... but the wind was slowly taking care of them so you needed to be quick.

From afar the beast's tracks conveniently were towards an oasis... so you started to wonder if it wasn't an illusion. But you had no other choice but to follow it.

You were really lucky as it turned out to be an actual oasis, and as you reunited with your beast you noticed that you weren't alone.

A pretty lady was dancing on the water. Standing on it like it was solid ground. And thus you wondered now if you weren't just dead or asleep so pinching yourself you react to it causing the lady to turn around and notice you.

Seeing you in such a dire state she immediately walked up to you and asked "Oh dear..! Are you okay? Do you need help?"

Once again you started to wonder if you didn't die and the pretty lady wasn't an angel. Her sweet voice, graceful moves and gorgeous face really were making you question your state of mind.

But your exhaustion was getting to you, so before you got to respond to her you passed out.

Nilou panicked at first but she quickly pulled herself together and tried to help you. She took care of both you and your beast and waited for you to regain consciousness.

She was patient and other nymphs teased her for worrying so much but she just couldn't help it.

Once you awakened she wanted to help you prepare to head back home... But first you needed to rest and she was very insistent on it.

As you rested you got to know her better and you very quickly got to get along. It was almost like you could knew each other for ages.

She was just so such a kind and gentle soul, talking to her was relaxing. It was maybe even a little bit too perfect.

But you weren't too surprised about it, after all Nymphs are supposed to be perfect... Right?

Your departure was sad for the both of you. But Nilou tried to mask her disappointment when seeing you leave.

She was only wondering if she'll ever see you again. While you were asking yourself if you really just fell in love at the first sight.

You soon found yourself reading more about Nymphs and there were maybe one or two romance stories between a Nymph and a human you stumbled across while researching...

There was one major problem though, you had no clue where to look for that oasis. But when there's a will, there's a way.

You felt it was a little bit insane to risk your life just to meet Nilou again... But you'd also go insane if you wouldn't be able to speak with her soon.

You prepared yourself for the expedition. Hoping for a little bit of dumb luck to guide you.

And guide you it did. Just as you were about to give up you saw it in the distance. Now you only hoped that it was the right one. But you had your suspicions since it wasn't on your map.

Upon seeing you she was really surprised... But also extremely happy. Just like last time the two of you decided to rest together and talk the night away.

This time however you didn't let your interaction end on "what if"s you asked if she wanted to come back with you. You didn't ask her for anything big. Just for her to be your roommate and if she's okay with it girlfriend.

Although it would make her mortal she didn't hesitate to agree. It was spontaneous, but she definitely wasn't going to pass an opportunity to see you every day.

Yelan- Jorogumo

There has been a lot of odd cases lately. The milileth would be suddenly summoned for arrest of various criminals, just for them to be found in something that looked like spider web.

At first you didn't really pay mind to that odd occurrence. Until a pretty lady showed up in your life. Coincidentally, around the time where you were being threatened.

You accidentally happened to hear a bunch of idiots talking about their "perfect plan" on causing some mayhem in the harbor. And ever since you were told to keep your mouth shut or everything will be pinned on you.

So it was hard to trust anyone. They could've been sent as a distraction or maybe the pretty lady was sent to plant some evidence while you weren't looking to make you look guilty.

And although you couldn't deny how... Charming... She was. You weren't some idiot that would do anything for a gorgeous woman.

Then suddenly she leaned into your ear and said "We're being watched. Follow me and I'll explain everything" her tone was serious. But it wasn't said in a way to further threaten you.

With some hesitation, you decided to temporarily trust her. So once the two of you were alone she explained that she knew what was going on.

She introduced herself and said she'll help you. But you needed to cooperate with her. Before you agreed to it blindly you asked her what her plan was.

She just needed you to act as a bait. And while you didn't like the sound of that... She was rather convincing.

It was just before they started setting everything up. They had all the evidence they could have on them and the moment couldn't be more perfect.

You waited for those bandits and as you looked around, you didn't see Yelan anywhere. You started to think that she was setting you up but you had no time to further think about your doubts as the group was there.

You started to act as though you wanted to join their scheme. After all, you're already involved.

You didn't talk much, you were just buying time that's when you noticed for a split moment that Yelan was here. Dashing between the trees. You had no idea how or why for that matter.

When she was done doing... Whatever that was she interrupted your conversation. When the bandits tried to attack, her incredible speed impressed you once again.

And those who she didn't catch in her spiderweb in that run, got caught by the web that was set on the trees.

As the two of you were leaving the scene, you heard the milileth in the back. Everything happened so fast you honestly had no idea what to think. Especially since you witnessed the person (?) behind all these odd occurrences.

When all of it was a done deal the two of you were walking back to the harbor in silence for the first few minutes.

You had so many questions... And yet you said nothing. She was the one who eventually spoke up, she asked if you were okay.

Somehow, from that question the conversation started moving in it's own direction.

It was rather enjoyable, you soon found yourself really enjoying her company. It was hard not to.

So your interactions didn't end with that situation. You ended seeing each other quite frequently- and you'd be lying if after some time your intentions weren't purely platonic.

She was just so interesting and awesome in every way. Even her creepy spider quirks were just something you couldn't help but admire.

You hoped that you weren't delusional and you're right in suspecting that she likes you too...

Without wasting much time, you told her how you feel. She wasn't very surprised by this but she didn't mask that it made her happy to hear you say so.

You were glad the "trap" you had fallen into was love and not her web.

Akifumi: *Punches the man outside the head then throws him over the edge*

Hu Tao: *Looks at him*Akifumi...

Akifumi: *Grabs Hu Tao's polearm* Hey, let's play that game alright, where we'd both hold a side of the stick and move at the same time

Paimon: We should just grab her!

Akifumi: Quick movements will set that bomb off and anything within a sixty foot radius will explode

Akifumi: *Holds the polearm out, smiling when Hu Tao grabs the safer end* Alright, just like when we were kids

Hu Tao: Aki....I'm actually scared right now..

Hu Tao: *Looks at him* Really scared...

Akifumi: *Stared at her alarmed then sighs quietly* Hu Tao, I want to say I'm so sorry for hardly being there for you when you needed me

Akifumi: I went and did shady stuff behind your back because I wanted you to be rich with Mora and not have to worry about anything! That was wrong of me

Akifumi: What you needed after grandfather passed was me being your big brother and standing by your side

Hu Tao: Aki...

Akifumi: I...am so sorry and I have no excuse for what I've done to you..you deserve so much better than me

Akifumi: So let me make this right...

Hu Tao: Huh? How?

Akifumi: *Snatches the polearm backwards, pulling Hu Tao past him as he quickly stepped on the fire bomb keeping it from exploding*

Hu Tao: *Yells, Aether catching her*

Luna: Ms Hu Tao!!

Paimon: *Looks at Akifumi* Ah, Akifumi's on the bomb!!

Hu Tao: Aki!!

Akifumi: *Lifts his hands and slams it on the ground, a golden ghost surrounding him and the bomb*

Hu Tao: *Starts forward, Aether grabbing her* NO!! AKI!! AKIFUMI!!!

Akifumi: *Chuckles, smiling at her* Don't be such a crybaby now, Hu Tao, where's that big girl..?

Akifumi: *Grabs the bomb, keeping his hand on the top as he ran to the cliff*

Hu Tao! *Quickly moves away from Aether, chasing after him* NO!!!

Akifumi: *Leaps off, falling backwards towards the ground*

Hu Tao: *Reaches forward, tears starting to fall* BIG BROTHER!!

Akifumi: *Smiles at her, removing his hand* Glad I got to hear that...one last time..

Aether: *Gasps, his eyes wide at the explosion that went off*

“The name of the deceased is…Pierre Edwards, yes?”

The director nods, “correct, it’s been said that Mister Edwards died from swimming in aerated water beneath the cargo ship’s hull. He was a sailor.”

Yanfei taps her chin with the back of a pen, “a sailor, you say? If he was a sailor…wouldn’t he have known that swimming in aerated water is fatal?”

“Hmm, now that you mention it, that is true.”

“Perhaps we should discuss this somewhere more privately, in that case.”

“Oh? Verr Goldett has an open room for us. Let’s go~!”

“Good,” Yanfei follows the director to the designated room in Wangshu Inn, “um, Hu Tao?”

“Yes?”

“Why did you have a room reserved?”

“Oh, my buddy- Boo Tao- doesn’t like the sun much, so it’s for him.”

“Ah, very well.”

Hu Tao opens the door to the room, turning on the light as she leads Yanfei in.

The director calls out in a sing-songy voice, “Boo Tao~! Where are you~?”

Yanfei jumps, feeling a cold mist pinch at her sides, “yah-?!”

“Oh, hehe, it looks like you found him, Yanfei!”

“Hehehe- he’s tickling me- hahahaha!”

Hu Tao looks away, trying to act innocent, “what do you mean?”

“He’s- hahahahaha!”

Yanfei tries to bat at the air, trying to swat Boo Tao away from her sides. The legal advisor misses each attempt, because the lights are on, the ghost is practically invisible.

“Is something funny?”

Hu Tao snickers behind her hands as Yanfei continues giggling uncontrollably, unable to defend herself against the supernatural force.

The director leans against the wall with her arms crossed as her eyes gleam with affection, admiring the laughing legal advisor.

“You did this- hahahaha- Hu Tao!”

“Aha, caught red handed, it seems. You’re right.”

“Why- hahahahaha!”

“Hehe, just to lighten up the atmosphere~” the director lowers her voice to a whisper and winks, “and maybe I like seeing you giggle like that.”

“We- hahahahaha- have to work on the case- hahahahaha!”

“Oh, fine, have it your way~” Hu Tao calls off her ghost companion, allowing Yanfei to finally relax.

“Hah…thank you, haha, well shall we start the case discussion?”

“Oh…just one thing-” Hu Tao turns the lights off, “it appears the lights have gone out…what a shame.”

Silence fills the room.

“H-Hu Tao…?”

Nothing.

“Hu Tao-!”

Yanfei feels the same cold mist around her waist as she feels the fingernails of a certain director on the insides of her elbows.

“Boo!”

“Ah-! Hahahahaha!”

"I swear, I'm going through withdrawals." You complained, sitting back, toying with the bracelet on your hand impulsively.

"You don't even have to do too much, you can turn me on with just a touch," Hu Tao sang in response.

"Hilarious," You groaned, rubbing your temples in mild grief. The trinket on your hand became a source of comfort for you in the days that you were an even longer distance from your boyfriend.

Annual TwitchCon happened — and this time, you actually were a featured guest. Furina managed to nudge you a spot at the panel happening in a few hours, so you were sat here, in writing mental agony over not being able to see Kuni for the remainder of the time.

For now, you were in the meet and greet session, consistently taking photos and signing autographs of people you were surprised even look like fans. Pretty sure you saw someone who looked like Satoru Gojo at one point in line. Was it on brand to cosplay here, or...?

The convention was a kaleidoscope of blended colors and disco-ball like brightness. There was a mild hum of mild chatter filling the air within the line, and your table was adorned with merchandise that you were pretty excited about. It made you realize how little you decorate your things in your house.

Each fan that approached you brought a different kind of joy with them, sweaty and all, which brought you joy too. Often not doing too well in public scenarios, you and Hu Tao were handling it well without the (fatherly) arms of Thoma helping you two out.

"I mean, why didn't they want to go with us anyway?" You huffed, sitting back in your chair, accepting the small interval. "It would have helped having more than one person being beside my hip at any given moment."

"You're as dependent as they come," Hu Tao shook her head. "You'll be aight."

"And what if I'm not?" You turned your head to her. "Huh? What if I keel over and die today just because everyone decided to ditch us? Decided to stop at the gate of the lion enclosure just because they were too scared? Kuni isn't even here. He said he'd be here."

Your friend sighed, closing her eyes in mild annoyance. "Listen, dumbass. You can't depend on him for everything, I mean, you were the same person who was making snide comments on him a few months ago, even you knew. He's got a life now, just text him or something and leave it at that until we're done." She murmured.

You puffed your lip into a pout, eyes narrowing towards your bracelet again. He hasn't even made it known that he missed you at all today, and you were forced to believe he was busy because of it. "You're right, I guess."

"I always am, now start putting in the work putting in the hours. We got a quota to fill before lunch and I want that shoyu ramen they're selling up front." Hu Tao said, immediately being pleasant and nice to the fans approaching her.

You rolled your eyes, getting ready to shift your persona back into a more public one away from your sullen mood. The line stretched on forever, and each person you were met with carried uniqueness to them. From their stories or their special connections they felt with you despite the drama.

You adjusted your posture, and even though the lingering thoughts of Kuni plagued your head, you still signed every single item you were given on that table with a special message.

As you were about to sign the next autograph, you felt your bracelet vibrate, sending an initial shock to you before the jolt sent you in a more cheerful mood than expected. The moon on your bracelet showed a soft aura of blue around it, which gave you the signal that he missed you.

"Ah!" You yelled, startling the fan in front of you.

Hu Tao narrowed her eyes towards you without directly turning her head. You were toying with your bracelet, tapping on it very aggressively in response, sending multiple tremors to your boyfriend's end. "What are you doing?"

"Sending him vibrations."

Hu Tao slowly looked towards the confused fan in front of you, before giving her an apologetic look. "...Did he stick the bracelet up his ass, or what?"
